Shaun Geraghty - Radio Presenter

Shaun’s voice is a familiar one to listeners of local radio in the Staffordshire area, as well as to listeners to international shortwave radio around Europe and beyond.

Shaun presented his first show in 1982, and by the mid 80’s had become a well known voice on international radio. In 1985 he joined Hospital Radio Stafford, and is still to this day a regular presenter and active member of this valuable service. He spent 10 years as Press and Publicity Officer, and has also served as Assistant Station Manager. During this time Shaun has presented many different programmes, and can currently be heard every Saturday between 9am and 11am with the popular morning show “HRS-AM”, also Tuesday nights between 7pm and 8pm with British Radio’s longest running musicals programme “Showtime” (repeated Sundays at 9am). He is also the producer and co-ordinator of the daily HRS Golden Breakfast Show between 7am and 9am and presents the Wednesday edition of that programme. Shaun is well known to Staffordshire radio listeners through his many appearances on restricted service licence (RSL) FM stations. He has over the past few years been a regular presenter on Stone FM, Stafford FM, Chase FM (Cannock), Smart Radio (Stone and Stafford) and County Show Radio, and has worked alongside some of the most well known names in broadcasting in the Midlands. Shaun is perhaps best known for being the regular presenter of the Friday Night Classic Rock Show and the Sunday Breakfast Show on several of the above stations, and has also presented a variety of other programmes including Showtime (Stone FM and Chase FM), The 80's Weekender (Stafford FM)and many others.

Shaun's voice is still regularly heard on international shortwave radio stations, broadcast through high powered transmitters in France and the Netherlands, and on the internet. These programmes are of a different nature to his normal shows, being aimed at radio enthusiasts, with a combination of radio chat, classic and modern progressive rock. Details of forthcoming broadcasts are normally posted on his Facebook page.

Shaun is often available for extra radio work, either as part of the radio station’s regular programming or he can also offer the following specialist programmes either live or pre-recorded:

SHOWTIME – The best of the West End and Broadway Stage Musicals. Songs from musicals old and new along with gossip from the West End stage. Plus news of theatre productions coming up in the local area (this can be tailored to any area). 60 or 120 minutes.

THE CLASSIC ROCK SHOW – The best of classic and progressive rock featuring music from bands such as Genesis, Pink Floyd, Yes, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Supertramp etc, along with competitions and news of gigs coming up in the forthcoming weeks and months at both local and mainstream venues.

A selection of some of the radio stations Shaun has presented shows for in recent years

THE STAFFORD COMMUNITY RADIO ASSOCIATION (SCRA)
Shaun was one of the original members of the Stafford Community Radio Association, a group of like minded folk from the world of radio and business with the intention of creating a community radio station for the county town. Having already seen that Stafford can easily support its own radio Station with the success of Stafford FM in recent years, it is clear that the town deserves its own broadcasting service. Although the Stafford Community Radio Association has now been put on hold, it is considered to only be on ice, and the opportunity is still there for the right people to take the project forward so watch this space!
Contact details for SCRA can be found at www.staffordradio.org.uk

SMART RADIO/COUNTY SHOW RADIO
The team behind Smart Radio, Stone FM and County Show Radio, of which I am a part, has produced many successful RSLs in mid Staffordshire. The team is working towards a community radio application for the area. More details can be found on the website www.smartradio.co.uk

HOME STUDIO
I also have a home based recording show which I use for production work for Hospital Radio and also for recording programmes for other radio stations. I have recently upgraded the mixer and microphone. The studio is now fully equipped to produce high quality standard of programming for any radio station.
